WEEK 3 I started this week reading the articles about CALL for Listening and Speaking and browsing through several websites to practice both skills. Reading the articles I found out that Internet is a great source of authentic material, but I also found out that it is a good way to encourage my students to talk without the pressure that being observed while speaking represents.I have used many websites for planning my classes as resources to get ideas for speaking activities, but only until now I am starting to use those resources to have my students produced. The other assignment we had was to create our own delicious page, and if well I can recognize the many advantages of the bookmarking website, the experience was a little frustrating for me at the beginning as I wasn't able to create my page from the beginning. I did what i was supposed to, but it reminded me technology's big con, our patience. Finally, I read the sample projects created for former students of our webskills course and I got some hints to write my own project. This has been a very busy week and also a very fruitful one.

WEEK 2

This week's learning process began with a rather shocking discovery for me; there is a whole world of search engines besides Google. I knew a couple more like Yahoo, Bing or Altavista but I didn’t know there were so many types of search engines, further more I never imagined that any of them would be as good if not better than Google.
I started the search task a little skeptical but as I mentioned in my first post in the Nicenet discussion, is not that Google is so good that no other engine can beat it, I am just used to Google. However, now that I know what’s out there I feel like I am going to become a cheater: SweetSearch reaaly got me. I am finally ready to admit that in terms of academic topics Google is just not enough not even its scholar site.
But not only SweetSearch surprised me in a good way, I also learned (watching TV –Clicks on BBC) about an alternative search engine that is supposed to be the future: Qwiki.com (See http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/103861/20110122/what-is-qwiki-is-it-the-next-google-video.htm).

All in all, this has been a very interesting week and I am looking forward to see what we are going to learn in week 3.

WEEK 1

This is the first week of our webskills online course and I can see how is going to impact have a great impact in my practice.

I am planning a workshop on internet and communication technologies used as classroom tools I am already making changes. Every single topic we will cover in this course inspires me. I am just a little disapointed I will present this workshop the first week of May when we will be just finishing our 4th week.

For instance, even though I have created blogs before I didn't know how to add a word to a site and I had no idea of what a Favicon was, things I learned from Andrea in her reflective blog Stepping Stones.

I am waiting to see how many more things I will learn and how to share them with my colleagues.
